Dental x-rays are pictures of your teeth, bones, and soft tissues in your mouth to help find problems with the teeth, mouth, and jaw. The dentists at Redlands Gentle Dental Care take a full set of x-rays in your first appointment to help them examine and record your individual teeth and jaw structure.
X-ray’s can show tooth decay, hidden dental structures (i.e. wisdom teeth), and bone loss that cannot be seen during a visual examination.
Most adult patients have bitewing x-rays (these show the upper and lower back teeth in a single view) every year and full mouth x-rays every four to five years.
