What is involved with ZOOM teeth whitening treatment?
For the in-office treatment in either of our Brisbane dental clinics we would first give your teeth a scale and polish to maximise the effectiveness of the treatment. Then your lips and gums are covered leaving only your teeth exposed. One of our friendly dentists will apply the ZOOM! hydrogen peroxide whitening gel which works with the ZOOM! light to penetrate the teeth, breaking up discolouration and stains.
The hour-long session is split into fifteen lots of light activation. For a total of 45 minutes of light activation. After treatment you will be given a take-home maintenance kit. We would also recommend avoiding drinking too much coffee, tea, wine and other stain-causing beverages. And when you do drink coffee, or tea or wine you can reduce the staining effects on your teeth by drinking water afterwards.

You can also carry out the entire whitening process in the comfort of your own home. ZOOM! comes in NiteWhite and DayWhite. As the name suggests; NiteWhite is worn while you sleep while DayWhite can be worn in short sessions during the day. Typically, take-home treatment takes one to two weeks.

Before proceeding with a Zoom teeth whitening treatment at either our Capalaba or Victoria Point clinic, our dentists will inspect your teeth for signs of cavities, cracks or tooth decay. If you’re all clear then Zoom teeth whitening is for you! It’s important to note that Zoom teeth whitening isn’t considered suitable for pregnant & breastfeeding women, teenagers under the age of 14 and those with increased light sensitivity.
Typically Zoom teeth whitening treatments performed in our Brisbane clinics should last between 1 to 2 years. However this assumes proper care of your teeth during this time including exposure to drinks that can stain your teeth including red wine, coffee, tea & soft drinks. Regular flossing & brushing with a dentist recommended toothpaste will also help to prolong the results from Zoom teeth whitening.
Zoom teeth whitening is a painless procedure and the majority of patients report no discomfort during or after the procedure. If you have very sensitive teeth, you may feel some discomfort in the following 24-48 hours, however this can be reduce via the use of a sensitivity toothpaste a week before and after the procedure.
